Hit the Ground Smokin’

Living in NYC, a girl puts a few of miles on her shoes each day. One wrong shoe selection in the morning could lead to an entire day of suffering. It can be difficult anywhere in the world, however, to find something that is appropriate for class, work, the commute and any fun plans that you may be blessed to have the time for.

There is definitely an array of options for shoes that transition well into multiple situations but in my opinion, one of the best styles right now is the smoking shoe. While originally only worn by the silver set, this style is not just for our super old grandparents anymore. Most recently the chic style has been spotted on starlet Miley Cyrus, as seen below.

Miley rocks her Sam Edelman Alvins with a classic LBD (little black dress) at a grocery store, of all places. The smoking shoe goes with just about anything and in a variety of prints, fabrics and colors it is poised to make a splash on the streets.

We all know that hipster fashion these days is super ironic. The style is all about rejecting the serious lifestyles of older generations, yet making it rain at American Apparel for clothes my grandma wears everyday. While this may be a style that can be classified as "older hipster" I suggest you embrace it.

Smoking shoes are classy, cute, sophisticated and pretty. You can basically use perfect or any similar adjective to describe them. They are flat with a narrow but rounded toe so that your feet are not squished and you can make it through the break in process without the blood, sweat and tears. (Although you may shed tears of joy when you realize how great these look on your feet…seriously.)

Ballet flats had their day and that day is coming to an end. Like a true hipster, I'm over it. Honestly, those things are not comfortable to dance in. Let's be honest, saying they are comfortable is a total lie.  Smoking shoes are all about keepin' it real while being comfortable, all at the same time.

While the Alvin by Sam Edelman is totally haute, they can run a bit high in price ($139.99). These amazing Steve Madden "MADEE"s are well worth checking out and with select styles currently marked down ($79.95 compared to $119.95  regular) they are the perfect addition to any wardrobe. On top of that, the color of this blue suede shoe is absolutely fabulous!

These little guys are taking the streets of New York City by storm. I have seen them worn by a few people in class but this style is still in its budding phase, so get on this one now! You could be a total
trendsetter among your peer group for this because they are impossible not to love.
